Fragrance designer Saga and her brother Sören are on the verge of making it big until their widowed father, Gunnar, unwittingly puts their perfume company into jeopardy.
Gunnar has become more and more of a recluse since the death of his wife. But he begins to come out of his shell when he finds out that Saga knows his childhood sweetheart, Elsa, who is now a famous singer. Elsa visits Gunnar on his small island but soon her manager Lars shows up.
Lars is the epitome of the term “ladies man”: vain and persistent, with an inflated sense of both himself and his charms. He sees Elsa as his show pony and is set on having her perform at an important concert that will be taking place in a few days.
Saga, however, is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure Elsa doesn’t return to the mainland any time soon because she can see how good Elsa is for Gunnar. Worlds collide when Saga and Lars, whose interests and personalities are polar opposites, come face to face.
Saga gives Gunnar a chance to spend time with Elsa by taking over his shifts both on the mail boat and at the corner shop. In doing so, she is forced to leave Sören in the lurch, who desperately needs her help back in Stockholm; but it's a risk she's willing to take to ensure that Lars doesn’t throw a monkey-wrench into Gunnar and Elsa’s burgeoning romance.
