In his role as a mountain guide, Markus Kofler is leading married couple Daniel and Maike on a hike. But Maike is afraid of heights and would prefer to end the hike and go back. But then she suddenly disappears. Daniel and Markus search for her, finding only her backpack and one shoe. The mountain rescuers launch a large-scale search operation, but don’t find her. Numerous inconsistencies emerge, and Markus soon suspects Maike may have gone into hiding.
