Village helper Katja locks horns with the new cemetery caretaker, who wants to remove young Madita from the cemetery grounds where she grieves for her deceased mother. But Katja becomes suspicious when she discovers there is no grave for the girl’s mother, and tries to reach out to Madita to help her. Meanwhile, Amelie searches for her own place so she and her son no longer have to live with Lilly.
