The police search the area around the brook but find no trace of Manon. She appears to have vanished into thin air. As the police investigation makes no progress, Alexandra decides to make enquiries of her own. Among Manon's personal papers, she comes across a medical examination report that reveals that Manon was pregnant. A few months before, Manon told Alexandra about a man with which she had a relationship. A short time later, Manon however said that they had split up. Is this man the father of her child?
