Alexandra confronts Martin, the headmaster. He freely admits that he had an affair with Manon. At the same time, he feels not in any way responsible for her death.
During their encounter, he tells Alexandra that Manon often behaved strangely. The fact that Manon was the twin sister of a glamourous actor excited Martin. When Manon became aware of this, she began impersonating her sister, putting on her perfume, wearing her lingerie and talking incessantly about Alexandra. She began to wear her sister's clothing, and even put on a wig to look more like Alexandra. All this was however just a little game between consenting adults, nothing sinister, says Martin. A few days prior to her death, Manon suddenly told Martin that she wanted to stop playing the game.
