In the year 800 AD, Charlemagne, the King of the Franks, was crowned the first Holy Roman Emperor. Ruling large parts of Western Europe, Charlemagne soon became a powerful adversary to the successful Byzantine Empire as he had one vision: spreading Christianity and enlarging his kingdom in the name of the cross, using violence if necessary. “Moments of History” is telling the story of the ruler who laid the foundations for modern France and Germany and is considered the “Father of Europe”.
