Lotte hopes for a new kind of socialism after the wall comes down. The state property of the GDR will be distributed fairly to each of its citizens, won’t it? Lotte joins a demonstration to stop the disappearance of gold bars and other valuables. Margot creates a distraction that helps her to divert the GDR’s gold and currency reserves. At least Lotte is able to reveal to the public the environmental scandal of the FRG sending its hazardous waste to the GDR. Margot succeeds in securing the party’s assets and converting them to Western Deutschmarks. Now she needs people she can trust, and chooses her youngest sister Silvia of all people to work by her side.
