Optimism washes over the town of Kaltenstein, in Southwestern Germany, where the US Military has set up a base. This is a blessing for Mayor Strumm and his virtuous daughter Erika, but a curse for the Kastner family, whose daughter Marie meets the charming GI George at her new job on the army base.
