The Pamir Highway - From Dushanbe to Bishek (Episode 2)

Completed in 1932 as a gift from the Soviet state to its remote regions, the Pamir Highway follows an ancient route through Central Asia to the Roof of the World. With peaks more than seven thousand metres high, the Pamir is one of the poorest and most sparsely populated regions in Asia. Yet its inhabitants stand out through a strong cultural identity and great hospitality. In Kyrgyzstan we experience what life is like for the clans of nomadic herdsmen who spend the summer high up in the mountains.
