After several international commitments, star conductor Walter Kler has now accepted a position as orchestra director in Munich. Having had enough of the luxurious nomadic life, his wife Charlotte is overjoyed. She desires a real home, so she can finally spend more time with their daughter Viola and granddaughter Lisa. Walter, however, does not appear to be all that serious about settling down, since he is already secretly eyeing a job in New York. However, he neglects to mention this to his wife.
