Chief Inspector Jan Brenner wakes up in the morning to find his lover dead in the living room, strangled with his tie. The last thing he can remember is an argument between them. His wife Kathrin, an ambitious politician, is away for the weekend with their two children. Brenner knows what he has to do to protect himself, his family and his career in the Berlin Criminal Investigation Department. He disposes of the body in a wooded area far away from home, covering his tracks. Brenner is convinced he has it all under control, until his colleague Pia calls to tell him that a woman’s body has been found in center city.
