Shy Marie and energetic Ilka have been best friends since childhood, growing up together in Hitzacker. On her 35th birthday, Marie finds out about her husband’s affair. Feeling desperate and betrayed, she quits her job. When Ilka finds out, she convinces Marie to come to Hamburg and helps her find a job at her company. But it doesn’t take long for conflicts to develop between the two women.
