This series showcases joyful and dramatic events involving doctors and patients, hope and joy, love and suffering, and life and death at the Black Forest Hospital in Glottertal. Professor Klaus Brinkmann is appointed to the position of new head doctor at his hometown hospital. He and his housekeeper Käti move into the house he was born in. His son Udo, also a doctor at the Black Forest Hospital, already lives there. Both men show an interest in Christa, a nurse who later marries the head physician. The doctors at the Black Forest Hospital care for countless patients and all of their major illnesses and minor afflictions.
