A very pleasant evening is drawing to a close - for Detective Riedmann it might even have panned out into something more; that is, if a brutal murderer had not beaten him to it. A young woman had struck up a conversation at the bar of a pub and they had hit it off straight away. Riedmann had even escorted her home. But barely had the door shut behind them, than he received a heavy blow to the head. When his colleagues are called out to the crime scene a short time later, they find the dead body of Nicola Schwarz lying not far from the unconscious Riedmann.
