Brightly costumed revelers descend on Eisenach for an event hosted by a group known as the “Furries.” Sybille’s encounter with one of these characters stirs surprising emotions. Costumes also play a role at Katharina’s nursery school when Pascal, little Cindy’s twelve-year-old brother, shows up cleverly disguised as a woman to stand in for his mother at the parent-teacher evening. Katharina realizes she has not seen Cindy’s mother in quite a while.
