Katharina crosses paths with Juri on the streets of Eisenach. He has met someone, Eva, who trains and races sled dogs. She wants Juri to go to Canada with her and the dogs. Stunned by how swiftly Juri has moved on, Katharina throws herself into her work. Her kindergarten needs new equipment and furnishings for young Greta, who has a cochlear implant that allows her to hear but distorts ambient noise or makes it unbearably loud.
