Each year, 150.000 people worldwide are stung by scorpions. "Only" 1200 of all accidents are fatal. The reason for this low mortality rate is that of the 1.500 known
species of scorpions only about a dozen are poisonous enough to be a danger to humans. However, we still know relatively little about these eight- legged creatures
which belong to the oldest beings living on land.

THE SHADOWHUNTERS is a documentary dealing extensively and for the first time with these feared but also fascinating creatures, and shows through unique images how the most poisonous of the poisonous live, love, hunt and feed; but also how people suffer injury and what type of reactions are caused by the toxine.
