On the dry African continent water usually means life. If a rain season fails, drought threatens the life of thousands of animals and people. But sometimes there can be too much of a good thing. In late 1997 the effects of El Nino created one of the most dramatic floods on record in Eastern Africa. While thousands of settlements had to be evacuated, roads and bridges destroyed, the famous wildlife parks of East Africa also went through some changes. The film follows the rains as they move from North to the South over the continent: And although wildlife suffered in some cases, for most of them it was a particularly rich time of plenty.
