Student Jana Haumann is working for a tech company that has developed an AI voice assistant. She claims to have heard a death threat on a recording made by the digital assistant, but the laptop with the recording is stolen. She turns to private detective Georg Wilsberg for help, but without the recording itself, Chief Inspector Anna Springer sees little chance of launching an official police investigation. Meanwhile, Inspector Overbeck eyes the police’s new AI inspector, KI-Ko, as the key to taking his investigative work to the next level.
