While out jogging, Chief Inspector Robert Winkler gets a message from a journalist claiming to have some interesting information for him. Shortly afterwards, she is beaten to death while he is on the phone with her. Winkler and his young colleague Karina Szabo rush to the scene of the crime. They discover that the journalist was part of an environmental organization that was fighting a company’s expansion plans for its site, plans which would require the clearing of several acres of forest.
