Our love for gardens has created a unique habitat with thousands of ornamental flowers. Hundreds of years of cultivation have turned small and simple flowers into glorious blossoms.  But there is more to the garden than meets the eye. It also provides an invaluable refuge for wildlife in a changing landscape. Today, exotic plants live alongside native animals; an eclectic mix created by generations of gardeners. The buddleia or butterfly bush acts as a magnet for our native butterflies, and the popular tomato plant is a favourite with the hawkmoth caterpillar. As summer turns to autumn, small grass snakes hatch within the compost and edible dormice look for apples stored in our garden sheds.  Stunning high definition footage and time-lapse photography reveals the vibrant colours of autumn and winter. This is a journey into an unknown and exotic wilderness that is our own back garden.
