Through the dazzling diversity of fish life revealed by our Bishop Museum deep divers, we will tell the story of how this region became so rich through volcanic activity, shifting tectonic plates, and changing sea levels. We will also make the connection as to why those same fish appear on Australiaʼs coral reef systems and the implications if the Coral Triangle was no longer able to provide this genetic richness. What conditions have given rise to the enduring existence of the Coelacanth, the deep dwelling Mola Mola, and the previously undiscovered psychedelic frogfish?
