Enchanted Mountains - In the Heart of Germany

  • UHD

Germany’s northernmost mountain range has much to offer. The Harz stands for wild nature, with snowstorms in the winter and rain in the summer, the only two wildcat species in Germany, deer, wild sheep and many other animals.

The lynx has long become an icon of the region. The elegant cat was once completely wiped out throughout Germany. Between 2000 and 2006, 24 animals were released. Meanwhile, most of the German lynx population lives here. The wildcat disappeared from many areas. Due to the mix of dense forests and meadows for hunting mice, the cat was able to survive in the Harz region.

For more than two years, animal filmmaker and Harz expert Uwe Anders travelled to the Enchanted Mountains to make his nature documentary. He has succeeded in producing a powerfully picturesque portrait of nature.
