Wedding celebrant Ellen suffers as she constantly marries other happy couples – especially in the wake of the split from her boyfriend. An unhappy singleton, she is addicted to shopping and pills and one day following a conviction for shoplifting ends up in front of the handsome and charming therapist Christian. They embark on a passionate affair. But it’s just Ellen’s luck, though, that Christian is about to get married to restauranteur Nora. Christian abruptly breaks off the new affair, only to turn up with Nora before Ellen at the city hall. Ellen’s recent unhappiness seems set to continue, but a comedy can on occasion take joyful turns. This emotional story about love, addiction and yearning is told through a despairing and moving protagonist.
