Thomas Wellmann, chief engineer at the municipal utility works, is laid off and more or less replaced by AI. His warnings about not leaving everything to AI fall on deaf ears — until a blackout engulfs his district. Vindicated, Thomas becomes unstoppable. He shifts into survival mode to protect his family, amassing food supplies, generators, and a Land Rover. His preparations horrify wife Eva and daughter Paula, while his youngest daughter, climate activist Jenny, stands by him.
