Emma, a forensic expert who got her training in America, visits her hometown Mittenwalde in the German region of Brandenburg, to celebrate the 75th birthday of her father Peter, the local coroner. When she arrives home, her father isn't there. She finds him at the local gym, where gym owner Verena is receiving medical care. A mysterious accident has taken place: Apparently a treadmill has been tampered with.
