Johanna Maiwald is a veterinarian whose practice in the idyllic village of Maria Alm in the Salzburg region is the only one for miles around. She wholeheartedly dedicates her abundant energy to every animal rural life has to offer, from a cow with an upset stomach and a poisoned cat to a depressed dog and an injured calf. Johanna loves her work, and pours her heart and soul into it. Her open nature, quick wit, and strong sense of justice mean that she doesn’t just tackle challenges of the four-legged variety, she takes on the human ones too.
