Six daring women are on a mission. They want to save our planet’s life support system: The Ocean. The documentary series „Ocean Heroines“ features outstanding female marine scientists and their interconnected work in the world’s five oceans. We follow them closely to their wild work locations all over the planet. Their research contains the cornerstones that keep the ecosystem ocean functioning.
The great white shark at the top of the ocean’s foodchain is protecting all life in the seas. The tiny phytoplancton at the base of the foodchain is the major source for our oxygen supply. Inbetween there are giant humpback whales, fragile corals and promising bacteria in the deep-sea. Without its life, the oceans will die. Will the researchers be able to turn the tides? Relentlessly they follow their only goal: to keep up pace with climate change.
