The investigation into the murder of Irina, a Romanian prostitute, leads Alex and her fellow investigators to the Küfners, a married couple who appear to be hiding something. But when evidence is found showing that the perpetrator was a pimp known to the police, Mihail Gabor, Alex’s boss decides to close the case. Yet Alex can’t stop thinking about it. She discovers that the dead woman, Irina, was a surrogate who was carrying the Küfners’ baby for them.
