While on holiday in Gran Canaria, conservative Maria is taken by surprise by the plans her childhood friends’ Sigrun and Elke have for the future: They have both had enough of the grey German weather, stressful jobs and tiresome affairs with men and want to invest their savings in “the island of eternal spring”. Supported by Miguel, their gay neighbour-to-be, they persuade hesitant Maria to say yes to their joint “opt out” project. Miguel's brother-in-law Pablo, a banker with German roots, helps them arrange the bridging finance and soon nothing stands in the way of a fresh start beneath the palm trees…
