Lena, a translator, is working on a biography of famous author Karen Blixen, who after years in Africa returned to Denmark where she later died.
In order to get a feel for Karen Blixen's life and her world famous novel Out of Africa, Lena travels to Copenhagen. But in truth, the biography is just a pretext for her trip to Denmark. Her main reason for going is to find her father, whose absence during her childhood had a lasting impact on her.
