ZDF Studios acquires series and cycles for ZDF and all broadcasters connected with ZDF. The Sunday evening time slot in the main program is one of the flagships of the channel, and is the home of chiefly English and Scandinavian crime series. In the domain of series acquired on the international market, ZDF currently has a strong presence especially thanks to its digital channel ZDFneo, and offers intelligent and varied programs for younger target groups.

The ZDFneo week starts on Monday evening, which is reserved mostly above all for British crime series such as Spooks, Scott & Bailey and Death in Paradise, and offers several program slots. On Tuesday evening, ZDFneo presents international purchases, a focal point of which are the Scandinavian series which fill two or three time slots starting at 10 pm. This is the place to find Verdict Revised, Nordlicht and The Bridge, for example.

Success stories have been written here for example with purchased series such as Mad Men, The Big C and 30 Rock. Currently being shown is the new Showtime series House of Lies. Moreover, ZDFneo has acquired the rights to the HBO dramedy series Girls.

ZDFneo also has something to offer fans of series in the afternoon thanks to classic and cult series such as Star Trek (in an updated version), Magnum, Agentin mit Herz, and Hart aber Herzlich.
