Dozens of heavily armed ships, some of the world’s most advanced nuclear submarines, and thousands of sailors operating around them - Toulon is Europe’s largest military port. Here, the French Navy repairs, maintains, and upgrades 70% of its fleet, under strict deadlines to return vessels to sea amid rising geopolitical tensions.

The base features massive dry docks - true concrete cathedrals large enough to line up four airliners - and giant cranes lifting tens of tons up to 60 meters high. Cutting-edge facilities enable rapid repairs, while new technologies such as powerful long-range radars are installed during refits. Toulon is also home to nuclear attack submarines. For the first time, cameras entered the Tourville, one of the Navy’s most formidable assets.
