With over 12,000 known caves, Slovenia has a wealth of stories from the underworld. Underworld: Slovenia is a thrilling adventure into one of the most significant ice caves in Europe. A team of expert cavers descend into Paradana, Slovenia’s largest ice cave. Using two different types of scanning technology, they measure the volume of ice, providing a baseline for scientists to measure the effects of climate change.

Alongside Paradana, the film explores Slovenia’s other mysterious and varied caves. Postojnska Jama is home to a rare species of blind cave salamander. Križna Jama, a near-pristine underground system of unparalleled beauty, contains the perfectly preserved bones of cave bears - a now extinct giant that once roamed across Europe. Together, these remarkable underworlds secure Slovenia’s position as a capital of caving.
