The format “Song Trip” is a five-part documentary series that sends pop and rock stars on a musical journey around the world. Along the way, they meet local artists, explore foreign cultures, and collaboratively create new versions of their most well-known songs. Each episode follows a musician traveling to a different country to collaborate with local artists. Countries featured include Mongolia, Trinidad and Tobago, Iceland, Albania, and Morocco. The artists immerse themselves in the local music scene, record new versions of their songs, and present them in a final performance. In a special final showpart, the musicians reflect together on their own experiences and those of the others. Each episode offers deep insights into the music and culture of a different country.
