Dennis and Rosa are an unlikely crime-fighting duo in Benidorm: he’s a burned-out ex-cop hiding behind a failing Scottish pub, she’s a hyperactive wannabe actress who talks her way into a job and into his life. Together they stumble into running investigations the local police are too stretched, or too wary, to handle.
Each week, a new corner of the city turns deadly: a washed-up tribute band at an adults-only hotel, a bitter comic on the comeback trail, a cursed hen weekend, a feuding bingo queen, a poisonous day on Levante beach and more. As Dennis and Rosa juggle jealous lovers, feuding families, missing cash, sunburnt bigots, hen parties and eccentric tourists, they’re also wrestling with their own baggage – his broken marriage and estranged child, her disappointed father and personal ambitions, and a mutual reluctance to admit they actually need each other. Watching, often exasperated, are sharp Spanish inspector Maria and puppy-ish young cop Jesús, who grudgingly learn to value the pair’s scruffy instincts, even as they roll their eyes at their methods. But the more Dennis and Rosa dig into Benidorm’s underbelly, the more Dennis’s past starts to surface.
When old enemy Stan Grainger walks into The Tavern and a secret lock-in ends in blood on the floor, Dennis finds himself framed for murder in his own pub, with only Rosa truly on his side. To survive, he and Rosa will have to decide how far they’re willing to go for the truth, for the town that has accidentally become home – and for each other. The season ends with Dennis led away in cuffs.
