Prosecutor Anton Mehringer is attacked by a stranger and beaten unconscious. Police officer July arrives at the scene and manages to stop the perpetrator, presumably preventing worse. But Mehringer is now in a coma. As the perpetrator escaped, State Criminal Investigator Officer Sarah Kohr launches an investigation. Unfortunately, clues about the perpetrator and motive are scarce. Mehringer is transferred to Dr. Gabriele Keuber’s coma clinic, where Kohr meets Ruth, a young woman who appears to know Mehringer and makes cryptic remarks.
