ZDF Studios Secures Global Distribution Rights for WildBear Entertainment’s Baby Animals Down Under

Mainz, November 21st, 2025

ZDF Studios is delighted to announce it has secured the worldwide distribution rights for the enchanting new natural history series Baby Animals Down Under, produced by acclaimed factual content creators WildBear Entertainment. The deal was brokered by Wild Thring Media.

Spanning six one-hour episodes, Baby Animals Down Under is a visually stunning and heartwarming journey into the early lives of Australia’s most iconic wildlife. From the eucalyptus forests and arid outback to lush wetlands, remote islands, and vibrant coastal waters, the series captures the remarkable first steps of baby marsupials, monotremes, birds, reptiles, and marine creatures as they adapt, survive, and thrive in one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems.

Each episode immerses viewers in a unique habitat, offering intimate glimpses into the lives of young koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, platypuses, emus, sea turtles, and many more. With breathtaking cinematography and insightful narration, the series not only showcases the adorable charm of these animals but also highlights the ecological challenges and survival strategies they face from birth, offering a compelling blend of education and entertainment for audiences of all ages.

Viewers will witness the journey of a newborn koala joey, no larger than a jelly bean, as it grows and explores the treetops; dingo pups learning to survive the harsh Outback; and platypus juveniles navigating freshwater billabongs. The series also captures the playful antics of eastern quoll joeys on island terrain, the dramatic dash of sea turtle hatchlings to the ocean, and the nurturing of fairy-wren chicks and little penguins along the coast.

Nikolas Hülbusch, Director Unscripted at ZDF Studios, commented: “Baby Animals Down Under is a joyful celebration of life, resilience, and the wonders of the natural world. WildBear Entertainment has once again delivered a beautifully crafted series that combines emotional storytelling with educational value. We are proud to bring this captivating series to international audiences and are confident it will resonate with viewers of all ages.”

“Australia’s wildlife is unlike anywhere else on Earth, and Baby Animals Down Under offers a rare and intimate glimpse into the lives of its youngest inhabitants,” said Michael Tear, CEO at WildBear Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to partner with ZDF Studios to bring these remarkable stories of resilience, adaptation and natural wonder to audiences around the world.”
