The Window (10 x 45’), created and written by BAFTA and EMMY award-winning screenwriter James Payne (The Musketeers, Hooten & the Lady, Mr Selfridge), has been sold by ZDF Studios to SONY AXN GERMANY who have acquired PayTV and SVOD rights for German speaking territories. SONY AXN, the action & entertainment channel of Sony Pictures, will broadcast the first season of the football drama series The Window as an exclusive German premiere on Thursday, 25th May at 9:10 p.m..

A thriller that takes you deep into the heart of the complex and dark off-field machinations of professional soccer, the 10 part series is produced by Boogie Entertainment in co-production with Fuji Television Network and ZDF Studios. Set in the elite world of top level football involving players, agents, club owners, administrators and journalists, the first episode begins at the end of the English soccer season when the transfer window opens. The Window charts one summer in the life of Jordan Burdett, a 17-year-old wunderkind who is being sought after by every club in Europe.

Marius Rocholl, VP TV Content Strategy & Acquisitions at Sony Pictures Entertainment said: “James Payne has created a superb drama giving a fascinating insight into what goes on behind closed doors. With its gripping storyline, The Window isn’t just for football fans. And the timing couldn’t be better as we look to air the series this summer coinciding with the Women’s World Cup.”

Sebastian Krekeler, Director Drama, ZDF Studios said: “With football being so popular all over the world, it’s not surprising that this drama has international appeal. I’m delighted that The Window, our first scripted co-production with Fuji Television, will be seen by audiences far and wide.”
