Tutankhamun was the last pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, a period called the New Empire. Tutankhamun was entombed in the royal necropolis of the Valley of the Kings. But the burial chamber of Tutankhamun stands apart from others with its richness: profusion of gold, refined statues, and chariots.
However, at the dawn of the 18th dynasty these sumptuous treasures and monuments did not yet exist. In the north, the country had fallen under foreign invaders. In the south, the Valley of the Kings did not exist.
