The Body: What Is Life?

You may have seen a simple cell diagram in a biology textbook, illustrated with curved rods and dots. However, within each of our body cells, there is an incredibly crowded and active environment, with many organelles working tirelessly to accomplish their functions. Outside the cells, there is a universe of cells that maintain our multicellular bodies by supporting one another and sharing tasks. It is a mechanism, like an orchestra, that continues to perform the symphony of life. 

This stunning system was established through a long history of life on Earth. Using spectacular CGI and extensive research, this new series from The Body team explores the fundamental but crucial mysteries of what drives our lives, how we perceive the world and enjoy life, and why we are fated to age, and so on.
