In 1874 Heinrich Schliemann announced he had found the legendary city of Troy and caused a sensation. And he also set a golden age of archaeology in motion in which a lost Bronze Age world was rediscovered. Since then, many archaeologists have challenged his claims, but in every generation new findings have kept the search for Troy alive.
Can we still imagine a real Trojan War behind the myth? Perhaps fought not for the sake of Helen of Troy, but between Bronze Age kings over land, trade and power…or, as recent science suggests, for survival, amid the chaotic and violent collapse of civilisation?
