Coming Home: Back to the Wild
They are seen as some of Europe’s rarest and shyest animals: lynxes, minks, pond turtles and ground squirrels.
They all once disappeared from Central Europe. Now it is hoped that they can return to their old homeland. But, once animals are reintroduced into the wild, we seldom get to see them again. This film accompanies them on their journey and shows how they survive in their new homes, and what challenges they need to overcome in order to reclaim their once lost ranges.
With special camera traps and a lot of patience, the film makers achieve to capture intimate moments in the lives of these shy creatures.
Besides showing the success of some of the reintroduced species, the film makes clear that a successful long-term strategy can only be achieved if ecosystems and are protected and kept intact for animals to stay alive.
