Editor-in-chief Kerckow is outraged when he discovers that Zarah lied to him. He prohibits her from writing any more major stories for the magazine, but she refuses to be brushed aside and hits back immediately.
At an opening-night reception, Zarah uses her charm to persuade the celebrity actor Bella Hausmann to give a high-profile interview. It is a spectacular scoop, especially since Ms Hausmann has been refusing to talk to the press for years. Kerckow has little choice but to allow Zarah to run the cover story.
Olsen is ecstatic about the upcoming interview, and Kerckow senses that he is losing favour with the publisher. Fate then deals Zarah an unexpected and brutal double blow: she learns that her mother has been suffering silently from cancer and is now close to death, and the capricious Hausmann cancels the scheduled interview.
Both Jenny and Ulrike stand by Zarah during these difficult times. The developing love between Zarah and Jenny grows stronger as the young journalist’s life threatens to fall apart.
